Wild Animals
Our Wildlife Neighbours
Hi kids! Did you know that wildlife such as raccoons, skunks and groundhogs live in our cities? Many people like to look at these interesting creatures — from a safe distance.
Please remember to follow the four L’s of watching wildlife: Look. Listen. Learn about them. Leave them alone.
They may be cute, but wild animals are not like pets! They can get angry and bite if we mess with them! And some of them may have diseases that are dangerous to humans.
Do you know what to do if you find a wild animal that is hurt or sick? Keep safe and don’t touch it! Ask your parent, teacher or adult you trust to call the Ottawa Humane Society. We will tell them what to do.
